Me emerging from a vertical breakdown squeeze known as the Grip of Despair in Dead Man Climbing Cave.
We discovered this spot when about to turn around because we thought we had come to the end of the passable
cave.  However, we began dropping small rocks through the breakdown some of which rattled out and bounced
in to what sounded like a large room below.  We eventually found this spot and after moving a few rocks managed
to squeeze through.  It was too tight to wear a harness so we had to free climb to a ledge below the constriction,
put our harnesses back on, and then finish the rappel to the floor.  All the time realizing the the ceiling above us was
simply a jumbled up pile of boulders that formed the floor of the previous room.  However, it payed off and we
found a large room at the bottom - one of the biggest on the island.  July 1999.
